    You are looking at microphone anti-pop shield - It does exactly what it says on the can

    A High Quality professional microphone Pop Shield. This shield has a 4 inch diameter mesh so is suitable for all types of recording microphones as used in recording studios.

    The purpose is to prevent 'POPPING' sounds whilst recording. It also serves to prevent spitting (it can happen when singing loudly into expensive microphone shields.

    The shield is attached to a mic stand with the large butterfly clip holding it securely in place.
